Irvington Arbor Day Celebration
Join others in celebrating this national event by participating in the 7th Annual Kile Oak Habitat Garden Workday, 9 – 12 noon, SATURDAY, APRIL 27.
Sponsored by the Historic Irvington Landmark Association and the Irvington Garden Club, volunteers will plant native wildflowers, remove invasive plants, pick up twigs and downed branches, prune undesirable growth and repaint the front fence.
Please bring your own garden tools including gloves and pruners, wear long pants and closed toe shoes.
The Kile Oak is a 300 – 400 year old Bur Oak with a diameter of 5 feet, a circumstance of 15 feet, is 87 feet tall, and a crown spread of 122 feet. The garden, located at 5939 Beechwood Avenue, is a registered wildlife habitat site and is planted with over 60 species of Indiana native wildflowers, ferns and grasses.
